Central Teacher Eligibility Test commonly known as the “CTET” is a national level entrance exam conducted by CBSE. The Exam will be organized for all the candidates who are interested to join the post of a school teacher for class I to VIII.  The entrance test enables the successful candidates to teach at the school of central government.

Eligibility Criteria for CBSE CTET 2018

Aspirants must satisfy prescribed eligibility criteria before they apply for CTET 2018. The important CTET eligibility conditions are as follows:

For Classes I-V (Primary Stage)

Candidates fulfilling any of the following conditions may eligible to apply CTET 2018.

  • Passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with not less than 50% marks and passed or pursuing in last year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education. OR,
  • Completed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with not less than 45% marks and passed or pursuing in last year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE regulations 2002. OR,
  • Passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) examination with a minimum of 50% marks and qualified or pursuing in last year of four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR,
  • Passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) examination with not less than 50% marks and completed or pursuing in final year of Diploma in Education (two years duration) OR,
  • Completed Graduation and cleared or pursuing in the final year of Diploma in Elementary Education (two years).

For Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage)

Following categories of applicants are eligible to apply:

  • Completed Graduation and cleared or pursuing in the final year of Diploma in Elementary Education (2-year). OR,
  • Completed Graduation with not less than 50% marks and cleared or pursuing in Bachelor in Education (1-year duration). OR,
  • Completed Graduation with minimum of 45% marks and cleared or pursuing in Bachelor in Education (1-year duration) as per the NCTE rules and Regulations released from time to time in this regard. OR,
  • Completed Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks and cleared or pursuing in last year of Bachelor in Elementary Education (4- year duration). OR,
  • Completed Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks and cleared or pursuing in the final year of B.Sc.Ed/ B.A or B.Sc.Ed/ B.A.Ed (4- year duration). OR,
  • Completed Graduation with not less than 50% marks and cleared or pursuing in B.Ed. (1-year)

CTET Application Form 2018: How to Apply?

Eligible candidates will be able to apply for CTET exam in online mode only. The authority doesn’t allow users to apply through any other mode. Please read the information furnished below.

  • The application for CTET 2018 will be available online
  • Interested and eligible candidates should visit the official website and apply.
  • Fill the mandatory fields completely with accurate details.
  • Candidates have to upload the scanned images of recent passport size photograph, signature and required documents as per given specifications.
  • Submit the duly filled application form and take the printout of the confirmation page.
  • Keep this safe with you for future reference.

Application Fee

  • For general /OBC category: Rs 600 (for paper 1 or 2) and Rs 1000/ (for both paper and 2)
  • For SC/ST/Differently abled: Rs 300 (for paper 1 or 2) and Rs 500/ (for both paper and 2)

The payment of application fee for CTET online form can be made either credit/debit card or e-challan bank at HDFC or Syndicate Bank.

CBSE CTET Examination Pattern

The CTET 2018 will comprise of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with four options out of which candidate have to pick one correct response. Each right answer will be rewarded with one mark and there will be no negative marking. There will be two papers of CTET exam 2018 as mentioned below:

Paper I (primary stage):  Candidates who wants to be a teacher for classes I to V must take paper 1. Duration of paper – I will be 2 ½ hours. The paper consists of 150 questions which are divided equally into five sections as listed below.

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy: 30 questions (30 Marks)
  2. Language I (compulsory): 30 questions (30 Marks)
  3. Language II (compulsory): 30 questions (30 Marks)
  4. Mathematics: 30 questions (30 Marks)
  5. Environmental Studies: 30 questions (30 Marks)

Paper II (elementary stage): Candidates who wants to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII must take paper 2. Duration of paper – II will be 2 ½ hours. The paper consists of 150 questions and would test applicants in 4 sections as listed below:

  1. Child Development & Pedagogy (compulsory) : 30 questions (30 Marks)
  2. Language I (compulsory) : 30 questions (30 Marks)
  3. Language II (compulsory) : 30 questions (30 Marks)
  4. Mathematics and Science: 60 questions (60 Marks) – (For Mathematics and Science teacher)

OR

  1. Social Studies/Social Science: 60 questions (60 Marks) – (for Social Studies/Social Science teacher)

In Paper 1, questions are to be covered from the topics mentioned in NCERT syllabus for class I-V; however the difficulty level and standard will be up to the Secondary stage.  The paper 2 consists of questions from NCERT syllabus for classes VI-VIII; however the difficulty level and linkages will be up to the Senior Secondary stage.
